“You may dive into the immense ocean of His love, and you may say of it all, “It is mine.”
Charles Spurgeon
I can visualize this profound quote from the great preacher and writer Charles Spurgeon so vividly. Perhaps it is a vision.
I see myself, though afraid of the ocean and deep water, diving into the Atlantic and swimming like a mermaid. The scene is me swimming in the waves, but also visible is the depth of the ocean and how far the ocean bed lies.
Reminds me of this video:
What's interesting about diving in an ocean of God's love is that you get soaked in it. The vision continues. I emerge on the beach drenched in water, and I sense the Spirit say, this is how we are to be with love.
The implications and inferences, therefore, are many:
What God's Love is Like
God’s love should transform us like being drenched changes your hair, clothes, hearing (clogging your ears to the outside world!), and skin.
God’s love is very apparent; even if you are just a little wet, people can see it. A little love goes a long way.
God's love on and in us is fleeting this side of eternity due to sin, so we will need to go back in the water continually. Re-upping our supply.
God’s love on and in us will dry out, so we need to be close to the source.
God’s love is immense and incomprehensible, like the ocean
God's love is everywhere, like the ocean, and covers the earth.
This verse takes on a whole new meaning:
And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 3:18-19 NLT
Lord Jesus,
I pray for those reading
that they will experience this deep level of love from you
and that it will transform them.
Amen.
Beverly, another beautiful post filled with truth!
May the LORD's love transform us in 2024. He is willing. I pray that we, too, will be willing.
