God does not lack. On the contrary, he has everything in abundance. Not just wealth, or life, or peace, or gold, or love, but everything. Anything you could ever want or need, he has it to the max.
It’s so mind-boggling.
We humans are surrounded by so much need and lack and emptiness and scarcity. We cannot conceive of such a thing. The closest we have is maybe the example of a billionaire. And while I shudder at this obscene amount of wealth, I do wonder if it serves as an example to us of what is possible, not to attain or aspire to for ourselves, but such vastness of wealth can exist. And yet, a billion is finite and exhaustible, believe it or not. But Jehovah’s resources are not,
My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
God is the dealer; he’s our supply. He can meet every need.
We are not used to this also. Billionaires cannot meet our spiritual needs or health needs, only financial ones. But God, He can do it all.
But why?
God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:8
He has everything in abundance so that he can give it away. Heaven was great, but he made Earth and people so he could share the overflow of what he had. So we, too, might know goodness, mercy, love, peace, and joy.
He also gives us everything so we might copy him and give everything to others. But not from a place of obligation or drainage but from a place of joy and continuous supply.
Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.
Luke 6:38
You give, it’s given to you. Just like the feeding of the 5000, the supply of bread and fish never runs out. It’s a miracle. And if we feel it is running out, we have the supplier who has an infinite source. Just head back for more.
You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands;
you shall be blessed,
and it shall be well with you.
Psalm 128:2
Amen.
